L&M Motors screwed my family over. Took my 2015 Kia Sportage in to diagnose an issue. After over two weeks, they called to say my engine was toast and they would buy it off us for $500. Little did they know, my husband is a mechanic who manually turned the engine before bringing it in; so they lied. They charged us $435 for nothing. Returned my Sportage to me with the throttle body, intake and trim disassembled. Not only that, they failed to return all the hardware and the starter. Refunded us no money and ordered the wrong replacement hardware. I will never recommend this shop. They are scammers and completely unprofessional. In response to your response: the Sportage is my vehicle that my husband, the mechanic, brought into you. And also: your response kind of told on yourself. My husband did the same exact process as you except, he was still able to manually turn the engine after the replaced starter burned up. So… seems like you guys are the ones who seized my engine. Awesome. You returned the car to us without the starter so we could utilize the warranty to get another one. You also returned the car to us without the hardware for my husband to put it back together. You tried and failed to make it right by ordering the INCORRECT hardware so now we are left to spend more money to purchase another starter and hardware. Unprofessional and unhelpful. Oh and by the way: the vehicle was taken to the dealership after your claim that it was “seized” and the dealership shop checked… NOT SEIZED. How interesting… seems like you guys are, in fact, scammers!
Arielle, We're very sorry to hear you had an unfortunate experience at L&M Motors, Inc. However, On May 19th 2026, when the customer's vehicle (not the person writing this review) a 2015 Kia Sportage came into our shop non-running. It was in lockout mode and according to your family member had died while they were driving. We were told they had installed a starter themselves, but that failed to address the problem. We had to diagnose the lockout condition first in order to use the key to actuate the starter to engage the engine. Once we diagnosed and repaired the lockout condition we found the faulty starter and replaced it. Unfortunately the new starter failed to crank the engine. At that point we tried a 3 ft cheater bar to turn the engine over by hand. We were not able to turn the engine at all. Therefore, we diagnosed the engine as, "seized", and recommended a replacement at that time. We were instructed by the customer (again, whose name was not the person writing this review) to cease working on the vehicle, and that they would arrange for it to be towed out of our shop, which I presume is why the vehicle was left in the condition you reported. We did offer to purchase the vehicle as a courtesy and a convenient way to dispose of a vehicle and off set the cost of the repair fees. The customer declined. We make this offer to many of our customers.

I’ve been bringing my vehicles to L&M motors for 20 years. Today, I brought my vehicle in for a standard oil change and they charged me $327.48. they charged me $32 a quart for the oil and $54 in labor. The last time I got my oil changed, it cost me $170, so I feel like I’m being price gouged. Since the prior owner sold the business, things have gone way downhill there. Take my advice and never bring your vehicle to this place. They don’t deserve your business.
L and M is my go to for automotive repairs and maintenance. The work.is excellent and the staff, especially Christine is helpful and pleasant.

Initial repair might be ok, but when picking up had a new problem found that wasn’t a problem before. They were able to get it done.
